ITANAGAR, Dec 12: With an aim to promote and acquire healthy plantations of tea and orange, the Seva Kendra Miao organized IGA training for 30 SHG members of Nayang and New Khamlang village under Miao.
Attending the training programme as resource persons P. Khosia, SDAO and G. Singh ADO Block Office, Miao gave inputs to the farmers on the scientific methods of healthy and long lasting plantation with theories.
Knowhow on different varieties of Tea plants like Ts 449, 463, 461 and 462 were also shared with farmers.
According to the resource persons, Ts 463 tea variety is the best quality and best suited for the local climatic conditions. While informing about the specific measurements for tea and orange plantation, they strictly warned against orange plantation in tea garden as it causes damage to the tea plants and depletes the growth due to its acidity.
Sickness and spider bite of tea plants should be prevented for the healthy growth and surplus production, they said.
Kishan Credit Card (KCC) schemes was also introduced to the trainees and they are asked to apply for the same in the agriculture department to avail the facility.
‘Give charge to CDPOs to perform’
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Arunachal CDPO Welfare Association in its annual meeting discussed some vital points necessary for effective functioning of the 94 ICDS projects of social welfare department.
While giving emphasis on improving the work culture of the department officials in the meeting, the association demanded for providing committed liabilities to the CDPOs and subordinating staff without which, the meeting observed, was hard to take up many important services to the grassroots level.
“The CDPOs, who are the key officials of the department, have to face numerous odd situations many a times without such liabilities,” the meeting opined.
The president and general secretary of the association appealed to its members to be dedicated to their duties at their best possible ways.

Accompanied by Lok Sabha Arunachal West MP Takam Sanjoy, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today called on Union Minister for Surface Transport & Highways Dr C P Joshi here at his 15 Akbar Road official residence and urged him to expedite the process for speeding up the proposals for faster approval and sanctioning.
Tuki apprised the Union Minister that due to delay in approval and sanctioning of proposals under the Highway Project its implementation at the ground level was getting actually delayed. While requesting expediting the process of clearing the road projects under the PM Package, he also sought the Minister’s intervention in obtaining approval for the state government’s proposal for roads to connect all the districts under SARDP.
Sanjoy, this evening informed that the Union Minister, who took keen interest in development of the state, promptly directed the officials of his ministry to do the necessary and expedite the process and put up the proposals for immediate approval. Meanwhile, Tuki invited Dr Joshi to visit the state for laying the foundation stones for the Nechiphu to Hoj (311 kms) and Potin to Pangin (aprrox 400 kms) portions of the Trans Arunachal Highway.
Accepting the invitation, Dr Joshi assured to visit the state during first week of January next year and gave a go ahead to the state government to chalk out a programme for the same as per convenience.

TAWANG, Dec 12: BARTALAP was organized by the Military Station Tawang at Diamond Park, opposite Tawang War Memorial. The 190 Brigade, popularly known as the Korea Brigade, presented various initiatives taken up by the Army to motivate the local students to excel through vocational courses like hospitality, tourism, nursing, distant education etc. The Military Station also expressed their keenness in inducting local officers in the Territorial Army and steps taken in the direction.
An overview of humanitarian services provided to the children of Manjushri Vidyapeeth Orphanage, monasteries and nunneries, medical camps in the villages and agro practices through green house culture was also brought up by the army. Brushing aside all speculations about the insincerity of Strike Forces while rendering their duties, Kanglong stated they are doing everything within the parameter of their reach to ensure that the world acclaimed Namdapha Tiger Reserve is free from all evils.
OC Miao Police Station R. Rawat said the basic ingredient needed for the safety and prosperity of Namdapha Tiger Reserve was augmentation of the existing infrastructure. He assured fullest cooperation while dealing with criminals related to the reserve in accordance with the gravity of the cases.
The local leaders present were unanimous on the question of total protection of Namdapha and its inhabitants.

AAPSU extends help to Daporijo fire victims
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: The representatives of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) today visited Airport colony, Daporijo where a fire incident had claimed one life and burnt down 50 houses.
The AAPSU team was accompanied by All Tagin Students Union and All Upper Subansiri District Students Union.
The AAPSU team distributed essential items to the fire victims. The victims told the visiting team that fire brigade could not reach in actual site due to lack of colony road. Later the AAPSU team called on Upper Subansiri deputy commissioner in his office. When they raised the issue of lack of colony road, DC assured that he will look into the matter and promised to work towards solving this problem at the earliest.

ITANAGAR, Dec 12: In recent past numerous cases of cheating have emerged in Arunachal. Many citizens have been cheated off their hard earned money by fraudster with promise of better return for the investment made by them. The cases of cheating have been reported from every part of the state.
In fact a source with capital police told us that almost every month they get complain of cheating. The modus operandi used by the conmen is quite simple. In the first step, they give advertisement in various local dailies about business opportunities to lure their prey. Once the local Arunachalee citizen starts contacting the person after reading advertisement, they begin their ploy.
While informing this journalist, a citizen from Daporijo who recently lost huge amount of money in one such cheating incident urged Arunachalee citizens to be aware of such fraudsters.
“I read in one local daily about requirement of land for setting up mobile tower by a private company. I called up in the contact number given in the advertisement and got in touch with a person who claimed to be representatives of that particular mobile service provider company. “Initially he asked me to deposit rupees four thousand five hundred as registration fee. I was bit surprised as to why I have to pay him if he needed my land. But somehow he convinced me. A week later I got a letter informing that they have selected my land to set up mobile tower”, he shared.
Few days afterward, he got a call from same person asking him to deposit rupees twenty five thousand for insurance coverage of the mobile tower. Like this, he was made to pay all together rupees seventy thousands for various purposes.
Finally he received a cheque of rupees eight lacs fifty thousand as advance payment for leasing his land to set up mobile tower.
“After receiving cheque I went to bank to withdraw money. But the cheque bounced and later bank officials told me that it is fake cheque. I sensed that something was wrong and tried to contact the person with whom I was dealing all these days. But his number was switch off and then I realized that I have been fooled of my hard earned money,” informed the Daporijo citizen. He has since then lodged an FIR with Itanagar police station and he also contacted the local representative of the mobile service provider. But his all efforts went in vain and most probably he will never get back his money.
While this journalist drew the attention of the Vigilance Officer of Aircel mobile service about such cheating cases, he strictly warned people to be aware of such cheaters.
“We have got lot of complains from Arunachalee citizen about such cases. We keep on intimating our higher ups about it. We also want to appeal local citizens to at least once inquire with us before going for business with unknown people from outside. We being local representative can guide them if it concerns our company,” said the vigilance officer of Aircel.
This is just one case which is being highlighted and like this there might be many more cases of cheating. The Arunachalee should be careful while dealing with unknown people for business opportunities.
Govt should also be accountable for safety in private hospitals

Tragedy in the AMRI hospital of Kolkata would compel every patient and his or her relatives to think twice before getting admitted in a hospital. The growing confidence and dependence on the private hospitals in India have been affected to a great extent. How much more money the Indians need to spend from own pockets for their treatment, and now the cost of hospital security may become an additional burden?
India’s military expenditure is told to be number ten in world, whereas our human development index rank is134 as per the latest UN report. USA’s military expenditure is highest in world; however, its rank in latest human development index is just four. So, it appears that in India security matters a lot than food, shelter, education and health. Of course, the geopolitical situation can be made responsible for such paradox.

Mushroom productions by SHGs get whopping response
ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Under the initiative of NABARD regional office, Itanagar, AMYAA has been promoting mushroom cultivation through Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Khagam CD Block, Miao through a Ripple Effect Concept method in the target villages with SHGs taking the lead role, stated its secretary R.K Paul Chawang.
SANYA SHG of Khasan Jugli village in Kharsang circle was the first SHG to take up mushroom production venture that influenced and brought a ripple effect on Susana SHG of New Khamlang Village, Blessing and Sarah SHGs of Songking village and Aphaung SHG of Old Plone, who have already gone for the first harvest of the Mushroom products,/ Oyster Mushroom Products.
The SHGs have started selling their mushroom produces in Miao and Kharsang Bazaar @ Rs. 100 per kg and they are highly impressed with the outcome, Chawang said. The climatic behavior of Miao is best suited for mushroom cultivation. The economy of time, less labour, use of easily available waste straw as raw material and the conducive climatic condition for mushrooming provides greater possibility of encouraging the SHGs, farmers and unemployed youths to focus on exploring alternative sources of income besides their traditional/conventional occupations.
The cultivation of Mushroom can be thought of at a larger scale in the form of cluster comprising of a village and cluster of villagers where SHGs, farmers and unemployed youth will be the beneficiaries. The larger products of Mushroom can be led to further processing for outside market with value tag prices, he said.
This can bring about a new growth of local economy primarily with much significance to the poor in the remote villages. In order to make mushroom cultivation business more commercial and competitive, AMYAA has called for genuine support and grant of funds from Agriculture and Horticulture Departments.

Dear Editor,
So often many people laments upon inconsequential bandh calls but it seems those words never reaches the bandh caller's. But effort should not be dotted here because we can’t see things to go on this way! In aid to this, just like to ask all the bandh callers to retrospect. Have we made it large? I do recognize and admire their indomitable spirit to hold such courageous way of protest; but I rather, would like to advice them better they use this energy for other developmental work.
We have heaps of noble things to do in earth, then why this bandh calls? Why deprive ourselves of all the good things in the menu? Why waste our energy in such nuisance? Why waste our valuable time? With this cheap bandh calls you are not only limiting your credibility but also hampering others work. These are all political intrigue which has blinded you, me and all of us to the needs of the state. Our beloved state is already lagging behind in almost all sectors then why don't we put efforts to make it a better place to live in?
We are not against bandh calls but against the frequent bandh calls of some mild issues.
You may personally be contented and may gained something in other way, but Just for once think unselfishly and make a retrospect what really you have achieved regardless of those materialist fulfillment.

But, Arunachal is facing the second stage of problems with increased educated youngsters. I come across lot of people who are highly educated, they would have had the opportunity in one of the best educational institution, but they are so “be rozgar” that they find a clerical job as alluring. I apologize that words might sound rude, but this is truth. The only economical support in Arunachal is either agriculture or the govt job. Though in the last few years there has been entry of the some private banks and other jobs that people had some option.
The point that I would like to make is that due to gap between education and employment,
it could really give rise to serious problem. Because of unemployment-
The question that rises on my mind is when we do not have lack of intelligent people in our state, why can’t all this strong and intelligent minds come together and create jobs. Why are there no entrepreneurs in Arunachal? Why are there no big dreams out there which are bigger than just making your home? There is a serious need of people who can create jobs and I am sure it can be done. Arunachalis are one of the most hardworking people.
I know there are lot of hurdles, troubles and issues, but I guess it’s not impossible; I just have a request for all the youngsters let’s stop complaining about the government. We are the government and we are responsible for what our life is , we can definitely bring out the solution. I sit far here from Arunachal but I certainly would want to see a revolution in Arunachal. I am sure there is a Narayan Murthy, Ambani among us. If there is someone out there, please do not stop yourself , go out and be the change.
Arunachal needs someone like you, we would support you.

Dear Editor,
Either way we the commoners are the foremost scapegoats. It’s been more than once
that I have encountered such upshot. I run a lowly shop at Itanagar. When I came
to my shop today by 10 am I found my locks broken and the shutters wide open. Later
I learned that it was against some certain bandh callers by the IMWA active volunteers.
So is that the way to do it? That’s uncultured rowdy vandalism. Who would have taken
the responsibility if something like the case of B B Plaza would have occurred on
us? Though it was reported in the daily locals about the bandh and governments view
on them atleast we could have been served notice about the “shutter-

194 nations have agreed to start negotiations on a new accord binding on all countries to control greenhouse gases which would come into force by 2020. Delegates agreed to start work next year on a new legally binding treaty to cut greenhouse gases to be decided by 2015 and to come into force by 2020.
Climate negotiators agreed a pact on Sunday that would for the first time force all the biggest polluters to take action on greenhouse gas emissions, but critics said the action plan was not aggressive enough to slow the pace of global warming.
The package of accords extended the Kyoto Protocol, the only global pact that enforces carbon cuts, agreed the format of a fund to help poor countries tackle climate change and mapped out a path to a legally binding agreement on emissions reductions.
But many small island states and developing nations at risk of being swamped by rising sea levels and extreme weather said the deal marked the lowest common denominator possible and lacked the ambition needed to ensure their survival.
Environmentalists said governments’ wasted valuable time by focusing on a handful of specific words in the negotiating text, and failed to raise emissions cuts to a level high enough to reduce global warming.
Sunday's deal follows years of failed attempts to impose legally-
UN reports released in the last month warned delays on a global agreement to cut greenhouse gas emissions will make it harder to keep the average rise to within 2 degrees Celsius over the next century.
But lot of social movements and civil society have slammed the outcome of the climate summit as they feel that there would be delay in action until 2020 and an increase in global temperatures of 4 degrees Celsius, permitted under this plan, is a death sentence for Africa, Small Island States, and the poor and vulnerable worldwide.
